Mr. Leahy will spend a large part of your free consultation listening to your story and addressing your questions.
I graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law, 1979, and started my own practice in 1980. At the beginning, I handled almost every type of case to get a broad, wide variety of exposure to the areas of law, pretty much anything where I could help people. The thing I enjoyed most about being a lawyer and being at a legal practice is meeting people. Normally, you got to say, "Hey. I got to get going." An hour's gone by, we've probably talked about the case 10 minutes, about their life 50 minutes. So I really enjoy meeting new people every day, but actually helping people and helping them through a difficult time, and have them pretty much become a friend at the end of the ordeal.
If you can ask me a question I can't answer for you, don't hire me. Because I'm that confident that I'll be able to give them all the answers they need at the initial meeting, tell them what to expect as we go along. We have a welcome letter we give to clients which is about four pages long which, over the years, we've learned to write down all their questions and just hand it to them to the end of the first meeting which pretty much explains all the process.
